The small wastewater treatment plant BioFix 1 holds a CE marking
The testing was carried out according to the European Union standards:
- EN 12566-3: 2005. Small wastewater treatment systems for up to 50 PT – Part 3: Packed and/or site assembled domestic wastewater treatment plants
- Construction Products Directive (89/106/EEC)
The tested model BioFix 1 (hydraulic daily loading 1 m3/d, organic daily loading 5 PE, i.e. 300 g of BOD7 per day) is intended for biological treatment of wastewater from residential houses, cottages, etc. According to the testing procedure set out in EN 12566-3: 2005, the plant was loaded alternatively with the nominal hydraulic loading 1 m3/d (altogether for 34 weeks), with an overloading of 1.5 m3/d ( for 2 weeks), and an underloading of 0.5 m3/d (for 4 weeks). Situations were also simulated in which the purification process was disturbed (power breakdown, large peakflow discharge, fluctuation of organic loading, long low occupation period, etc.). The test results proved to be successful and the plant BioFix 1 was the first in Estonia to receive a CE marking:
